Blow Up Your TV, Throw Away Your Paper……

Song writer John Prine’s words from Spanish Pipedream seem more relevant today than they did in 1971, 40 years ago. Not that he is saying that you should become a Christian. Rather that you should go out and find your spirituality, and ultimately control of you own life, on your own. Unplug, disconnect and free your mind (sounds sort of Matrix-esc).

Many people seem to have woken up and are starting to say “I’m not gonna take it any more!”. Wall Street and the Banks are the current target and for good reason. If there are modern day pirates then they float on concrete seas and the wind in they’re sails is the freedom to pillage the american populous at will via Washington DC.

Steve Jobs, The Best Friend I Never Met

Where to begin? Such incredible sadness in our house today.

Steve Jobs made that dent in the world that he was looking to do. He affected almost everyone on the planet in one way or another. Either directly by a product or indirectly by virtue of changing the technology industry forever.

Our journey with Apple and Steve began the day I received my first Mac in 1991. A used SE. Prior to that I would not touch a computer. I was not enamored with DOS. But a Mac… Now I could do this.

I didn’t’ know anything about computers, Apple, Steve or Woz. I only knew I liked this box and it made my life as an entrepreneur easier. Over the years I have had a number of Macs. We currently have 3 Macs in our house, 2 iPhones, 2 iPods, and Airport Extreme and a lot of Mac Software. The iPhone 4S will be a member of our family when they arrive later this month.

Notice I said “member of our family”. I know… It’s an inanimate object. But, it is integrated into our life so closely and everything we do each day that it is like a part of us. Our [...] Continue Reading…

Options Trading on Executive Jets?

One of the people I enjoy following online is Dan Robles PE, MBA, Director of The Ingenesist Project a private think tank in Seattle that predicts and specifies elements of the next economic paradigm as built on a platform of social media.

Dan is involved with Social Flights, a new way for the public to fly using Executive Jets that are underutilized and sit idle much of the time.

In his latest blog post Dan throws out a new idea on how Social Flights and Entrepreneurs can work together to capitalize on an options market for private jet travel.

Except:

“For the price of a typical airport lounge bar tab, a traveler can buy an option to fly a private jet non-stop between their destinations. An option is the right without the obligation to take a position in the future. The option would be convertible, transferrable, and may even be exercised on a wide variety of schedules.

Goodbye Steve – Thanks for all the Fishes…

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.”

Tianjin Eco City – The Future of Sustainability and Social Cities

A city built from scratch entirely to be 90% sustainable. This is not just a Chinese project, it is a global one. GM is making the electric vehicles for this city. Entirely electric, drive themselves using GPS this project is creating jobs and a new focus for GM. OK, so they killed the Electric Car. They are now on board for the future.

High density were you don’t need to drive to the Burbs to shop at the warehouse store is where we need to be. With everything within walking distance, even that electric car is not needed most of the time.
