Internet for the entire world
Game Changer:
Two brothers in Canada are looking to bring internet to the other 99% of the world. Small villages and farms around the world could get internet via their existing cell phones with the worlds lowest cost tablet and new technology that reduces the data needed so even slow networks will work.
This is truly a game changer and is much needed to allow ideas and information to flow into areas isolated in many ways. Imagine the young boys and girls who might (and will) do amazing things once connected to their piers in other cities and continents!

In the recent past, attempts to digitally link Indians has wagered heavily on widespread Wi-Fi access that simply doesn’t exist. Only a tiny fraction of Indian families have Wi-Fi at home.
However, 800 million people in India, and five billion people around the world, from all walks of life, have cell phones. In India, they pay about $5 a month for phone service. That cellular phone network is what DataWind technology, developed over several years in Montreal, keyed in on.
“We have a technology that reduces the amount of data required to go on the Internet by 30 times — that’s the core of what we do,” Tuli said.
“So we’re able to run (the device) on those low-speed networks that are available everywhere and we can afford to buy that bandwidth and sell it at a very low cost.”
The UbiSlate tablet has been in development over the past 18 months.

Following on the heels of Google and Twitter’s new speech-to-tweet service for Egyptians, a team of journalists and volunteers at Alive in Egypt have begun translating those messages from Arabic into other languages.
The Google and Twitter service utilizes the technology and engineers behind SayNow, a social telephony company Google acquired last week, to turn voicemails into tweets, which are appended with the hashtag #egypt.
As our own Mike Melanson pointed out, the only thing missing was some way to translate these messages from Arabic into other languages.
Alive in Egypt was launched yesterday by Small World News, the international news startup behind the popular (but now defunct) journalism project Alive in Baghdad. The team is using its network of Arabic translators to crowdsource the translation of the messages left on Twitter’s @speak2tweet account, which now contains over 700 messages from people in Egypt.

Read MoreTechnology Stops 70% From Launching Their Ideas Online
What I’ve Learned
I spend a lot of time installing WordPress, plugins, and other online technology and then spend even more time training folks how to use their new site. They often want the Rolls Royce but have a Ford budget or less. If that’s not enough they find out what it takes to maintain a site and keep up with the blog posts.
Challenging to say the least
Intimidating may be a better word. Frustration rears it’s head and the website goes silent. If 70% never launch their product ideas online it is also true that 70% of the blogs started are dead in 90 days or less.
Technology gets in the way…
Let’s face it, not everyone is a geek. Nor do they want to be one. Not only that, but it takes years to learn all this “stuff”. You either need money or technical knowledge to break into the 30% who do get their ideas online and keep the website vibrant and alive.
I’ve been fortunate to have made it over the hump of this learning curve. It is also a challenge to keep up on the latest and greatest in this fast paced virtual world. Like many I have learned to specialize but also retain and keep my hand in related technology so I can handle most tasks I take on.
For most, technology gets in the way of their dreams and aspirations.
Solving the Technology Riddle
Every once in a while I am presented with a solution I can’t ignore. One that even I will use. If I can avoid spending all the time building, managing and securing a website I will. That same time I spend doing things with Technology I can spend marketing and interacting with people.
What if you, yes I mean you and anybody, could set up a professional product launch with landing pages, social media interaction and membership areas by just clicking some buttons and writing some text?
What if this technology could handle any growth you created and helped you to be more effective?
What if the other 70% had access to the top technology used by the top marketers at a fraction of the cost?
Very soon, I mean very soon, you will. We all will. The technology barrier will be lifted and your great idea can no take flight online. All that power and technology is hidden behind so you never have to think about it.
I won’t have to think about it.
I encourage you to watch this video and be amazed and thrilled.

P.S. Oh yeah, there is NO OPT-IN NEEDED to watch this. It’s totally in the open. (Which is kind of shocking, considering.)
I will be monitoring this new technology development and reporting back as things develop. I have a project I want to use it for and I know Faith does too.
